Journey Amalfi Coast with
The nearest major city with an airport is Naples. From here you can take a train to Sorrento. From here you can reach many places on the Amalfi Coast, Positano Rovella. however you need approx. 2 hours from Naples to Positano. In Sorrento there is not too often a bus going along the Amalfi Coast, however you should take into account that the departure times can vary a lot, which is the normal case for Italy.
2. The best way to get there is by car
If you are traveling by car in Italy, then you have some advantages when it comes to getting to Positano. By car you can drive to Sorrento and take the bus or even better, you should rent a scooter to explore the Amalfi Coast. There is plenty of parking in Sorrento and we chose to rent a scooter from SorrentonScooter (Rentacar) at the train station.
3. My tip explore the Amalfi Coast and Positano by scooter
The Amalfitano is not only the most famous and winding coastal road in Italy, it is also one of the most dangerous roads. Getting through those narrow streets in a car is not a good idea and not to mention the parking situation in Positano and the other towns on the Amalfi Coast, this is one of the best options.
4.My tip for the passage with the scooter to Positano
Stop at the parking bays and take breathtaking pictures of the beautiful Amalfi Coast and the lovely fishing village of Positano during your trip to Italy. With the scooter you can quickly drive to a small parking bay and take wonderful pictures of the colorful fishing villages piled up in the steep rock face.
5. The best time to travel to Positano and the Amalfi Coast
The best time to travel to Positano and the rest of the Amalfi Coast is in June and September. Especially during the vacation season in July and August it can be very crowded. But in June and September the weather in Italy and also on the Amalfi Coast is still excellent and you avoid big tourist crowds in Positano.

6. Visit the beautiful island of Capri
Only a short drive of 20 minutes and you are in Capri. The small island of Italy captivates with dreamlike clear water and colorful houses and mountainous landscape. You can also rent a boat and explore the area, this is even possible without a boat license and is not too expensive ca. 90€.
7. Sunset in Positano
The most beautiful sunset is in Positano, before going back to Sorrento you should enjoy the view. The best place to enjoy the sunset on the Amalfi Coast are the small parking bays.
8. The most beautiful beaches in Positano and on the Amalfi Coast
The most famous beaches of the Amalfi Coast is Positano Beach or Positano Spiaggia, as it is called by the Italians. However, there are other great beaches that the Amalfi Coast has to offer. My tip for adventurers, the Fiordo di Furore and for families is the Maiori Beach best suited.
9. Restaurant recommendation Positano Ristorante Don Giovanni
The restaurants with the best view is definitely the Ristorante Don Giovanni. Here you can find not only fine and delicious cuisine, but also a dream view of Positano. My tip, go there for dinner in the evening at sunset- just wonderful, but best book a table in advance in case it will be too busy.
10. The perfect accommodation Amalfi Coast, Italy
As mentioned before, renting a scooter is the best way to explore the Amalfi Coast. Therefore you can choose a hotel directly at the rental in Sorrento. Compared to Positano, prices can vary wildly, sometimes twice as much. These are the most beautiful hotels on the Amalfi Coast:
