Menton Sights – You’ll love these 6 highlights in the south of France!

Basilica of Saint Michael Archangel

The Basilica St. Michael is located in the beautiful village of Menton on the Cote d’Azur in France and is the first Menton sight I would like to recommend to you. The Basilica St. Michael Archange is located on the hill of Menton and is surrounded by all the colorful houses and yet, you can see the tower of the Roman – Catholic church from many points in Menton. This sight is a must see, because even the climb to it is a sight in itself, more on that in the next point.

Stairs to the Basilica of Menton

To reach the Basilica, you can use the stairs leading up from the Plage des Sablettes. The staircase is accessible to everyone, and it’s also where many tourists hang out at all hours of the day, because this is where you can snap the perfect photo for Instagram. The winding corners and typical houses of the French Riviera give every picture that special something.

Viewpoint Menton

Once you’re at the top, take your time and enjoy the view of the sea. After that you can walk to a real insider tip of the locals. A nice Menton resident navigated us to the viewpoint in Menton from which you get an incredible view of the landscape. Simply explained: You will find after going up the stairs on the right side another small staircase that leads to the narrow streets of Menton. Now walk through the typical Menton alleys and keep going towards the Cemetery of the Old Château until you come to a great view and seating area.

Museum Jean Cocteau The Bastion

Museum Jean Cocteau The Bastion is located right on the beach between the Plage Sablettes and the Plage Fossan. The works of Jean Cocteau are exhibited there and the entrance fee is 4 €, but a small free online tour is also available on the homepage. You can also easily take great photos here, as Menton’s harbor is right next to it and you get a great view.

Jardins Biovès

The Jardins Biovès are a highlight in Menton all year round. The garden is decorated differently in every season. In spring there is also the lemon festival and there the Jardins Bioves is magnificently decorated. Menton is also known as the city of lemons, because the lemons in Menton contain more sugar and taste more fruity, so some top chefs like to use Menton lemon a lot.

Menton Plage des Sablettes beach

Menton has unbelievably great beaches. in fact Menton is now one of my favorite destinations in Europe for a beach vacation. The Plage des Sablettes is ideal for everyone, the sand to fine pebble beach is clean and the water is not too deep and therefore perfect for families, couples and in the evening there are events on the beach promenade instead and bars, as well as clubs can be found for party goers.
Parking in MentonThe parking garage at Plage des Sablettes “Parking Old Town – Sablettes “is perfectly located to explore all the sights in Menton on foot. The 1. hour costs 2 €, but the price per hour decreases and we paid only 11,40€ for 12 hours!
